I always wrote. I wrote from when I was 12. That was therapeutic for me in those days. I wrote things to get them out of feeling them, and onto paper. So writing in a way saved me, kept me company. I did the traditional thing with falling in love with words, reading books and underlining lines I liked and words I didnt know.

Id be lying if I didnt say there were days when I went back and said, I wish Id done this. I should have done that. I handled this the wrong way. But its always in the motivation of getting better. Ive never once looked in the mirror and said, Oh boy, cant do this one.
I spend several days at a time without enough sleep. At first, normal activities become annoying. When you are too tired to eat, you really need some sleep. A few days later, things become strange. Loud noises become louder and more startling, familiar sounds become unfamiliar, and life reinvents itself as a surrealist dream.
